How To Navigate The Vast World Of Streaming

Hey!! Are you a streamer that’s just getting started? Are you trying to decide what content you want to showcase and what kind of audience you can pull in? Well no worries, as I’ve got just what you need.

I’m also new to the streaming world, but I have been watching different types of streamers through the years and its helped me find where I fit into in this community. Depending on what type of gamer you are can determine what type of content you can create, and what sort of platform will receive you well. For example, Twitch is a HUGE platform to stream on with not as many rules as other platforms. On Twitch you can play music and not be penalized to such a severe state as YouTube and Facebook. Facebook would take your entire stream down if there are copyright issues. Other than that, there are still many benefits to streaming on any of these three platforms.

Twitch: Nickmercs

Though Twitch is my personal favorite, it is the hardest to grind in. To become an affiliate of Twitch you have to go through several steps such as having 50 followers, stream for 500 minutes in the last 30 days, have a minimum of 7 or more unique broadcast days in the last 30 days, and an average of at least three or more concurrent viewers over the last 30 days. Everything does seem easy but obtaining the viewers is the struggle due to the fact that so many big pro players are on Twitch. Say you are playing Call Of Duty during the day, it would be difficult to obtain the viewers because streamers like Nickmercs and TimTheTatMan are pulling in over 100k viewers to their channel alone. Which is almost the majority of the people watching Call Of Duty on Twitch. So one way to finagle around that is to try to stream on different times than them. Which actually has helped small time streamers grow.

Also watching other streamers and how they interact with their chat is a huge bonus as it immerses the viewers. They aren’t just an audience anymore, they are now a part of the stream. For example, one up and coming streamer “CheeksS_” does an extraordinary job with her chat. She has created Reward tokens that you earn depending how long you are watching the stream and if you subscribe to her your rewards are multiplied. You can redeem the rewards for different things to do depending what the streamer created. She has rewards like “Spin The Wheel” that will have her do an assortment of silly acts, such as seeing her cat Oreo on stream, or her drawing a mustache on her face. Interactive and creative methods such as this is what helps keep your audience happy and have them excited to return. Also having days where you play with your viewers or people subscribed to you is also very rewarding. It’s a great way to network and build relationships with your viewers that will want them to come back in hopes they get to play more games with you.

Now if you wanna start on an even level with other streamers and build a great community, I personally think Facebook is a great place to start. If you’ve had Facebook from the start than you already have an abundance of friends. And when you start streaming, those friends can follow you and within a week you can start receiving stars. Stars on Facebook is another way to receive income from your content. One star equals one penny, so if someone sends you 10,000 stars (which isn’t rare) that’s $100 in your pocket. With Facebook you can be way more interactive with your viewers because you can have daily posts and polls and also chat with your viewers off stream through messenger or your post. I will continue to stand by the fact that if you aren’t a great gamer, if you’re subpar at any game, as long as you interact and come in your stream with great energy, you will have a successful stream and go far. If you want to stream because you just want to have fun or if you want it to be your goal or profession, these are great tips to help you along the way.

Hopefully you can grow as a content creator and be sponsored by different companies such as Faze (one of the greats) or even be sponsored by energy drink companies like GFuel that sponsor the entire Faze Clan. Rogue Energy is another great one that CcheeksS_ is associated with. So there are many outlets in the streaming world that can build a foundation for your brand and make you the next Ninja or Dr. Disrespect. I hope this was greatly informative and in the words of Nickmercs, “Peace and Love baby”!
